The build from our end was seamless with minimal changes and the trades, particularly Steve and the crew are a credit to Quinn Homes. Everyone says building a house is stressful – and many never want to do it again……..but I’d be happy to carry on building up the street if we could make it happen!

Also, you went above and beyond with your handover gifts yesterday….to say we were blown away would be an understatement…..and loved the engraving on the glasses and chopping board.

From our initial meeting with Peter to discuss our first house build, we were impressed by the time spent to understand what we wanted and putting a plan in place to achieve this. We meet Peter Quinn of Quinn Homes through a turn key package advertised and had been able to view another one of Peters completed builds,  where it did not take long to work out Peter builds quality high spec homes. We then signed up for one of our own.

Peter was very quick to have the plan changed to accommodate our wants and needs, we dealt with quality local suppliers with a large range of choices. 

We had never built before and found the whole experience from start to finish a very easy stress free process. Peter was always contactable throughout the build and gave regular progress updates, completion was within estimated time frame.

Peter personally spends a lot of time at his builds and was on hand to point out some improvements that could be made along the way, we have been very grateful of this with the finished product.

We have found post build Peter has always been able to answer any questions and punctual with having any rectification done.

To Whom it May Concern

We first contacted Peter after seeing a concept plan on TradeMe which we were quite taken with and as it was in Prebbleton, even better.  He responded almost instantly and set up a time to meet with us.  Given we were 40kms out of ChCh we didn't expect him to come to us, but he insisted, with the only proviso that he had some scones for morning tea!

We felt instantly at home with Peter and made up our mind, that we would like to build with him, although at that time we were still waiting on confirmation of the sale of our property. When our sale was finally confirmed, our situation dictated that we had to transfer to Wellington for the next 9 months.

From there we gave Peter our wish list, plans were drawn and building started. From then until we moved in, we were based in Wgtn, with a trip to ChCh once very 7 weeks for about 2 days.  In those visits, he had arranged for the kitchen, carpets, tiles, colours etc to be sorted.  The rest of the time, we communicated by email, phone, photos, and txt.  Peter's communication and project management was excellent. His attention to detail through the whole build was amazing.  He treated the build as if it was his own, and was probably more pedantic about things than we were.  We had no choice but to put our confidence in him and he never let us down at any stage.  Nothing was ever too much trouble for him.

We returned to Christchurch 2 weeks prior to shifting in and were absolutely delighted with how everything had come together.  We couldn't fault any aspect of the build, all his tradesmen delivered what was expected of them, and we have ended up with a home that we are truly proud of.

We contacted Peter Quinn from Quinn Developments as we noticed his sign when driving past a new-build in progress.

Initially we were looking for sections and were excited by the prospect of having input into certain design and quality features of a new build. So we engaged Peter “off the cuff” and were only really interested in looking for comparison purposes. Instantly we were taken by Peter’s easy going nature – making himself available at our request for viewing. It wasn’t an issue and a sign of things to come.

What was obvious was that, outwardly, Peter’s design stood out from the rest of the houses in the street. Then on further inspection we realised that he had a real passion for his product that we had not encountered when enquiring with larger companies and that flowed through to the quality of his fittings and fixtures on the interior as well as section choice. We are picky people and it was hard to fault any of his choices or style.

Any changes required were not an issue for Peter. He had hired likeminded tradespeople that he obviously trusted – so anything we needed was accommodated and therefore our trust in Quinn Developments grew. Further backed up by his own reasonable price expectations we made the decision to purchase… Best decision we could have made.

It was at this point though that our decision was proven correct. With still more work, in-particular landscaping to be done, Peter could have relaxed but he delivered a finished product on time and well above our expectations. He regularly text me photos and updates when he knew I couldn’t make it to site. He even pointed out any tiny issues himself upon final inspection.

I had held off writing this testimonial until a few weeks after settlement as I am in a customer service industry and know that after sales service is important. Peter has answered all of our (sometimes stupid) questions since settlement and has gone out of his way to ensuring we are happy.

I have friends “enduring” the same process with large building firms and our experience has been almost embarrassingly easy with Quinn Developments in comparison. I will be recommending Peter to my friends and wouldn’t hesitate in engaging Peter in our next Design & Build.

In January 2016 we made contact with Peter Quinn of Quinn Homes in response to a marketing image they’d placed on Trademe, for a new property in Prebbleton, Christchurch. What stood out for us was the designs great layout, simple clean modern lines and a the clear message about the houses delivery. Peter explained over the phone that he was building the house and was looking for a purchaser who could engage in the design process. He made it clear he would manage its full design, specification and construction delivery. From the outset Peter come across as a person of huge enthusiasm and passion for great house design.

1). Contact

We meet Peter at the property and he described the design, his vision and approach to its delivery. Shortly after the visit, Peter shared the house plans and answered all our initial queries. Since this time, all of our weekly calls and contacts were direct with Peter, whose approach has been extremely honest, transparent and he’s made the stressful process of buying a new property both an exciting and enjoyable process. Peter takes a fair and reasonable approach to all aspects of the design and delivery of his projects. We placed our trust in Peter and were rewarded with a fantastic outcome for our new family home, a place to grow into and bring up our young children.

2). Client Requirements

Following our initial contact Peter put together a list of pricing options and identified items that we might be able to change and have input. He quickly identified things that might suit us and demonstrated the efficiency of the proposed layout and design. His delivery methodology and attention to detail impressed us whilst demonstrating excellent value for money. He created lists of items to capture our requirements, needs and wants and given the stage we began discussions the items we could modify. These included all the finishes, colours, carpets, lights, heating, door and tap hardware, and bathroom components. Together over a few weeks we visited suppliers and sort advice from Peters interior designer to help us choose. Once these client requirements were identified Peter managed the procurement and finishing trades to come through the house install and commission.

3). Commitment to program

Given all the moving parts of a new house build, its a complex task hitting a target program, let alone during a housing boom with a busy sub trade market. Peter has preferred suppliers and subcontractors, all of whom demonstrate a solid commitment to program and quality. Peter efficiently and carefully manages the timing of trade inputs. He skilfully allows time for completion with suitable contingency to enable closeout of unknown issues that come up. We were able to move in on time which was hugely important to our family.

4). Delivering the client experience

Peter’s developments are underpinned by his tenacity and enthusiasm for creating exceptional housing solutions. His methodology is underpinned by creating an exceptional client experience informed by a deep knowledge of the key facets needed in the design and construction of modern houses;

a). Understanding buyers drivers - Peter listens and is able to look ahead to anticipate

b). Solid and timely design advice - access to architectural and interior designers

c). Managing the subtrades delivery and engineering signoff

d). Managing the clients expectations - regular meetings to review progress and answer any queries and concerns

e). Managing the Post completion certification and defects closeout - Peter worked quickly to achieve council signoff and proactively close out any minor defects. He wasn't satisfied until the quality meet his expectations and he was satisfied with the product.

We believe Peter’s passion, attention to detail, commitment and understanding of the design and delivery of modern houses is second to none.
